Brandon Man Behind Bars After Shocking Digital Evidence Uncovered

BRANDON, Fla. – A two-month investigation into the illegal download of illicit digital materials has ended with the arrest of a 56-year-old Brandon man. On March 13, 2026, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office took Matthew McGuinness into custody following a specialized probe that centered on a local residence.

The case was sparked when detectives received an alert regarding child pornography being downloaded to a specific IP address within the Brandon area. This lead prompted a deeper look into the digital activities originating from the home.

After securing a search warrant, investigators sifted through electronic devices at the scene, where they discovered a massive cache of illegal media. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the search turned up hundreds of files containing child sexual abuse material along with three separate videos depicting bestiality.

As a result of the evidence found, McGuinness faces severe legal consequences. He has been officially charged with 100 counts of solicitation or possession of child pornography (10 or more images and content of images) and three counts of filming, distributing, or possessing an image or video of sexual activity with an animal.

Sheriff Chad Chronister addressed the nature of the charges following the arrest.

“Crimes that exploit children and involve the abuse of animals are deeply disturbing and will never be tolerated in our community,” Chronister stated. He noted that detectives spent long hours on the case to ensure the suspect would answer for the allegations, adding, “We will continue doing everything in our power to hold those who prey on the most vulnerable fully accountable.”

While McGuinness is now in custody, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office noted that this is still considered an active investigation. Officials have indicated that any further developments or additional charges will be released through the Public Affairs Office as the case moves through the court system.
