Brandon Neighborhood Shooting Leaves Two Dead As Detectives Name Suspect And Victim

BRANDON, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office has released the identities of two people found shot inside a Brandon home on Thursday evening, clarifying who investigators believe was responsible for the violence.

Authorities named 52-year-old Katherine Luz Evans as the victim in the case. She was discovered dead when deputies first arrived at the scene. The man identified as the suspect, 62-year-old Anthony David Evans, was taken to an area hospital where he later died.

The incident unfolded on June 18, 2026, at approximately 5:40 p.m. Emergency dispatchers received calls reporting gunfire coming from inside a residence located on Burlwood Street.

When deputies entered the home, they found both adults suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. While Katherine Evans was pronounced dead at the scene, Anthony Evans was rushed by emergency medical personnel to Tampa General Hospital. Doctors there later pronounced him deceased.

Sheriff’s officials stated that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the gunfire. In an official statement, the agency noted that “this appears to be a domestic-related incident, and all parties involved have been accounted for.”

Detectives have not detailed what led up to the shooting or the exact relationship between the two individuals. The sheriff’s office stated that the death investigation remains active and ongoing. Further details regarding how the events transpired are being withheld for the time being, as officials “cannot release more information on the manner of death until the Medical Examiner’s Office finalizes its report.”
