OLDSMAR Fla. – On Monday at approximately 12:57 p.m., Pinellas County Sheriff deputies responded to 1540 Huntleigh Court in Oldsmar, after receiving a complaint that a gunshot was heard at the location earlier that morning.
Once deputies arrived on-scene, they entered the home due to suspicious circumstances. Detectives say deputies discovered 41-year-old Shawna Katz deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Deputies also found 53-year-old John Katz deceased in the same room from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Detectives believe John Katz shot Shawna Katz and then took his own life.
Next of kin has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
