SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Police are investigating a shooting with two possible crime scene locations.
Investigators say the shooting happened just before 2 p.m. near Leon Avenue and 24th Street. An SUV was found by Sarasota Police officers near 21st Street and Palmadelia Avenue with the victim inside. Officers called for emergency rescue immediately. The victim was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died this evening.
The victim is a 34-year-old black man, and his name will not be released, as detectives are working to notify his next of kin.
Sarasota Police detectives do not believe this is a random act of violence.
The search for a suspect remains underway.
