Brevard County Law Enforcement Lands $700K Boost For Immigration Tasks

CFO Ingoglia Awards $700K to Brevard Sheriff and Other Law Enforcement for Immigration Enforcement
CFO Ingoglia Awards $700K to Brevard Sheriff and Other Law Enforcement for Immigration Enforcement (CFO)

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Law enforcement across Brevard County received a significant financial injection today as Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia traveled to Titusville to hand over nearly $700,000 in reimbursement funds.

The money is designated to cover costs incurred by local agencies during immigration enforcement operations. While several departments benefited from the payout, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office took home the lion’s share of the funding, totaling $577,021.44.

Other recipients included the City of Cocoa Beach Police Department, which was awarded $99,515.50, and the Indialantic Police Department, which received $15,102.50.

The funds are distributed through the State Board of Immigration Enforcement, a body that includes high-ranking state officials like Governor Ron DeSantis and Attorney General James Uthmeier.

These payments specifically reimburse agencies operating under the 287(g) agreement, a federal program that allows local police to partner with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to perform specific immigration-related functions.

During the event, Ingoglia emphasized the state’s stance on the matter, noting that Florida law enforcement continues to set a standard for these types of operations.

“Florida law enforcement continues to raise the bar for immigration enforcement in our country,” Ingoglia said. “Their tireless work protects our communities by keeping criminal illegal aliens off of our streets. We will continue to work alongside President Trump and Governor DeSantis to secure our border and end the illegal immigration crisis.”

For local leaders like Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the reimbursement represents a necessary recouping of resources spent on the ground. Ivey highlighted the daily efforts of his deputies in identifying and processing individuals who have entered the country illegally and committed crimes.

“Our deputies are working each and every day to remove criminal illegal aliens that have crossed our borders illegally and caused harm to our Floridians,” Ivey stated. “I want to thank CFO Ingoglia and the State Board of Immigration Enforcement for providing us with crucial funding to enhance our capabilities to fight back against the detrimental impacts of illegal immigration.”

The payout is part of a broader state initiative to support local departments that have opted into these federal partnerships. As the state’s chief financial watchdog, Ingoglia’s role on the board involves overseeing how these taxpayer dollars are redirected to local jurisdictions.

By covering these specific operational costs, the state aims to ensure that local budgets aren’t stretched thin by tasks that fall under the umbrella of federal immigration priority. The ceremony in Titusville marks another chapter in Florida’s ongoing efforts to integrate state fiscal support with local and federal law enforcement objectives.
