HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Brooksville man is facing serious drug charges after a lengthy investigation culminated in his arrest on New Year’s Eve.

Tommy Nichols, 52, was taken into custody on December 31st, 2024, following an investigation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office Vice and Narcotics Unit. Detectives had received intelligence earlier in the year that Nichols was distributing large quantities of methamphetamine throughout the county.

Undercover operations led to detectives purchasing trafficking amounts of methamphetamine from Nichols. During the investigation, he was also found in possession of a significant stash of drugs, including 188.9 grams of methamphetamine, 15 grams of cocaine, 1.1 grams of fentanyl, and Alprazolam pills. Drug paraphernalia was also recovered.

As a result of the investigation, detectives seized over 750 grams of methamphetamine, preventing a substantial amount of the dangerous drug from reaching the community.

Nichols is now facing a slew of charges, including:

  • Trafficking in Methamphetamine (multiple counts)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Use of a Two-Way Communication Device to Facilitate a Felony
  • Possession of Structure/Vehicle Used to Sell Drugs
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Nichols was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center with a bond set at $119,000.
