Brooksville Man Killed In US-41 Head-On Crash, Weeki Wachee Man Injured

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A two-vehicle crash on US-41 in Hernando County on Friday afternoon resulted in one fatality and one non-life-threatening injury, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The crash occurred around 4:00 PM near Deer Run Road.

FHP investigators reported that a 48-year-old Brooksville man, driving a Ford F150 pickup, was traveling northbound on US-41. For reasons currently unknown, the vehicle drifted onto the outside shoulder of the highway. The driver then over-corrected, causing the pickup to swerve back across the northbound lanes and directly into the path of southbound traffic.

The Ford F150 collided nearly head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup, driven by a 39-year-old Weeki Wachee man, who was traveling southbound on US-41.

The driver of the Ford F150 suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The driver of the Dodge Ram sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
