BROOKSVILLE, Fla. – A residential structure fire broke out in the 9000 block of Dan Lynn Street in Brooksville early Monday morning, April 20, 2026. Hernando County Fire Rescue (HCFR) arrived on the scene just before 1:00 a.m. to find the home heavily engulfed in flames.
Firefighters engaged the blaze immediately and were able to bring the situation under control within 20 minutes.
According to HCFR, three residents who were inside the house at the time of the fire managed to escape safely before emergency crews arrived.
While there were no reported injuries to the occupants or responding personnel, officials confirmed that two pets died in the fire.

The American Red Cross is currently providing assistance to the three displaced individuals.
Following an investigation into the origin of the flames, fire officials determined the cause to be electrical. No other structures were damaged during the incident.
