Brooksville Woman Killed In Midday SR-50 Crash, Spring Hill Man Injured

HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A two-vehicle collision at a Hernando County intersection left a Brooksville woman dead on Monday afternoon.

According to Florida state troopers, the accident happened at approximately 12:20 p.m. A 74-year-old woman from Brooksville was driving a Honda CRV northbound on Lockhart Road when she approached the intersection of State Road 50. At the same time, a 35-year-old Spring Hill man was driving eastbound on SR-50 in a Ford F250.

Authorities say that the driver of the Honda CRV entered the intersection and moved directly into the path of the oncoming Ford F250, resulting in the collision.

Emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and transported the 74-year-old woman to a local hospital. She later died from the injuries she sustained in the crash. The 35-year-old driver of the Ford pickup truck suffered only minor injuries and did not require transportation to the hospital.

The investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains ongoing, and authorities have not yet released the names of either driver involved.
