Bullet Holes And Music Videos: Michigan Rapper Charged In Texas Restaurant Shooting

Jeremy Christopher Ford, a 36-year-old Michigan man better known by his stage name Allstar JR, is back behind bars after a chaotic shooting at a Houston restaurant.

Acting U.S. Attorney John G.E. Marck announced Ford’s arrest last week, charging the convicted felon with unlawful possession of a firearm following a violent April 8 confrontation on Kirby Drive.

The incident unfolded when a fight broke out inside the establishment. According to a federal criminal complaint, a handgun fell to the floor during the scuffle. Ford allegedly grabbed the weapon and opened fire as patrons scrambled for safety. Investigators say the gunfire hit three people.

The allegations paint a grim picture of the scene. Court documents suggest that as people fled toward the elevators, Ford continued to shoot. He is accused of returning to one victim who was lying motionless on the floor to fire several more rounds into them. Before fleeing the restaurant, Ford allegedly hid the handgun on the premises, where it was later recovered by law enforcement.

The case took a digital turn in the days following the violence. Prosecutors allege that Ford posted several videos to social media taunting the people involved in the fight. He even released a music video that directly referenced the shooting incident.

Because Ford has a prior felony conviction, he is legally barred from owning or carrying any firearms or ammunition. He made his first court appearance in Detroit and will remain in custody until a detention hearing scheduled for April 27.

If a jury finds him guilty of the federal firearm charge, Ford is looking at a steep price for the Kirby Drive chaos. He faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison and a fine that could reach $250,000.
