Busted: Zephyrhills Man Facing 270 Years After Undercover Sting Uncovers Horrific Cache

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities have booked a 69-year-old Zephyrhills man into the Pasco County Jail following an intensive undercover investigation into the digital distribution of illegal materials.

Frank Tonin now faces 17 counts of possessing child sexual abuse materials and one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child, all of which are classified as second-degree felonies.

The investigation kicked off in January 2026 when Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents launched a proactive operation to track down individuals sharing such content online. According to investigators, they traced a specific IP address back to Tonin’s home.

During the surveillance period, agents observed several files being shared from that address, including a specific video that depicted the sexual performance of a minor.

The case reached a breaking point on April 29, 2026, when FDLE agents executed a search warrant at the residence. After seizing a variety of electronic devices, a forensic look at the hardware revealed a massive collection of illegal files. Investigators noted that the content involved victims ranging from toddlers to young teenagers, and even included depictions of animals.

“Every time this harmful content depicting innocent children is viewed or shared, the child is revictimized,” Attorney General James Uthmeier said in a statement regarding the arrest. “I want to thank the proactive policing by FDLE agents that led to the arrest of this child predator. Our prosecutors will continue to work with law enforcement until every predator is found and put behind bars.”

Tonin is currently being held on an $850,000 bond. The legal stakes are incredibly high; if he is convicted on all charges, the 69-year-old could be sentenced to a maximum of 270 years in state prison. Special Counsel Rita Peters is set to lead the prosecution for the case within Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit.
