A federal grand jury in San Diego has unsealed a five-count indictment against Brandon McGibbon, a 33-year-old San Diego Police Officer, charging him with multiple child sexual abuse offenses involving three minor victims. If convicted, McGibbon faces severe penalties, including mandatory minimum prison terms ranging from five to fifteen years and up to life in prison.
Court records indicate that the alleged crimes took place over a two-week period between October 25 and November 6, 2025. During this window, McGibbon reportedly engaged in the attempted production and receipt of child pornography, alongside the attempted enticement and coercion of the minors to engage in sexual conduct and obscene matter.
The investigation was spearheaded by special agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who worked in cooperation with the San Diego Police Department.

The prosecution is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Amy Brammell and Lyndzie M. Carter as part of a joint effort between the U.S. Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit and the San Diego District Attorney’s Office.
McGibbon is scheduled to make his first appearance in federal court on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
