California man has pleaded guilty to federal drug trafficking charges in Florida for his role in a conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Esdras Joel Garcia De La Rosa, 28, of Los Angeles, faces up to life in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl.

According to the plea agreement, De La Rosa supplied Durand Dijuon Demetiu Colbert, 34, of Fort Myers, with large quantities of drugs that were then distributed throughout Lee County. The drugs were shipped from California to Florida via mail and private carriers.

In November 2023, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Colbert’s residence and seized approximately 1,700 fentanyl pills that were traced back to De La Rosa.

Colbert pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy in September and is scheduled to be sentenced in December.

This case was investigated by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
