MONROE COUNTY, Fla. – A 68-year-old man from Richmond, Ontario, ended up in handcuffs Monday evening after a scene at a Marathon bar turned into a physical struggle with deputies.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Marathon Grill & Ale House around 6:19 p.m. on March 16, 2026, to deal with a customer who refused to leave. Staff told responding deputies that Neil Eisenberg was highly intoxicated, shouting, and making a scene.
When deputies tried to escort him out, police say Eisenberg wouldn’t go quietly, resisting their efforts and grabbing at the deputies.
The confrontation didn’t end at the bar. After being medically cleared at Fishermen’s Hospital, Eisenberg was taken to jail, where authorities say he continued to act out and began threatening the deputies.
Eisenberg is now facing a string of charges: assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, threatening an officer, trespassing, and disorderly intoxication. Fortunately, despite the scuffle, no serious injuries were reported.
