Canceled: Harvard Asks Student To Remove Nicki Minaj Flag Because It’s Possibly ‘Offensive’

Nicki Minaj had little nice to say about Donald Trump before and during his time in the White House.

But perhaps MAGA country should welcome the Trinidad-born rapper.

That’s because the fashionable left now seems fit to disown her because she admitted to being unvaxxed, announced that she will refuse to get vaccinated until she has more proof the jab works, and claimed that her cousin’s friend in Trinidad and Tobago suffered swollen testicles and impotence after getting the COVID-19 shot.

If Trumpsters want one more reason to embrace a once-hostile critic of their guy, how about the fact that she’s on Harvard University’s cancel list, according to a recent article by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, or FIRE.

FIRE noted that on Sept. 5, a student at Harvard tweeted that he and his roommates were directed by an unidentified member of Harvard’s staff to take down a flag featuring Minaj because some would find it offensive.

The controversial display, facing a common area, shows a very buxom Minaj clad in a bikini top and saluting, with the American flag as the backdrop.

An email sent to the students in the room where the banner was hung said, in part, “I don’t want to censor anyone’s political or aesthetic expressions, but I’m concerned that members of the community will find the poster offensive, so I’m wondering if you’d be willing to take it down.”

The student recipient, who’s Twitter handle is @imjustjuice, tweeted, along with two sad-face emojis, “Harvard really said no Barbz allowed in school. THIS is where harvard (sic) draws the line?! #JusticeForNicki.”

Barbz is a term for Minaj’s most hardcore fans, FIRE reported.

It’s unclear exactly how the flag was offensive, whether it was the rapper showcasing her more-than-ample bosom, or the fact that she posed in front of the American flag.

FIRE noted that @imjustjuice also “deleted the original tweet over concern that Harvard might do something to jeopardize his spot at the university in response to the attention his original tweet received.”

Still, FIRE went to bat for @imjustjuice.

The group sent a letter to Harvard reminding university officials that although they are not bound by the First Amendment, since Harvard is a private college, the fact that some might be offended, for whatever reason, is “immaterial.”

What does matter, they wrote, is Harvard’s stated commitment and promises to protect free expression. Additionally, the flag did not violate any rules for that particular dorm, the letter said.

“We are not aware of any policy that would serve to limit the Minaj display at issue here,” the letter stated. “If such a policy or its enforcement turned on the basis that others might find a display offensive, it would be a content-discriminatory restriction.”

“Curtailing displays entirely would squelch student expression and frustrate students’ ability to contribute to a vibrant intellectual community,” FIRE argued.

It’s unclear at the moment whether @imjustjuice took down the flag or how Harvard responded to FIRE’s letter.

Yet perhaps Minaj herself cut to the heart of the issue in comments she made on Instagram Live on Wednesday in response to the vaccine controversy.

“Don’t y’all see what’s f—ing happening? Don’t y’all see that we are living now in that time where people will turn their back on you … but people will isolate you if you simply speak and ask a question,” she said. Yep, sounds like your typical Trumpster.
