ST. PETERSBURG, Fla – St. Petersburg Fire Rescue and the City of St. Petersburg’s Aquatics Department are partnering up to raise money to provide free swim lessons to children in our community.

“Together we will be hosting our 4th Annual Firefighter and Lifeguard Car Wash Fundraiser on Saturday, February 11th, 2023, at Northwest Pool (2331 60th Street North St. Petersburg, FL 33710) from 9 AM – 12 PM. 100% of donations will go towards providing free swim lessons to qualifying children in need of financial assistance at any City of St. Petersburg pool,” said SPFR. “To date, we are proud to announce that we have raised over $14,000.00, providing over 1000 children in our community with free swim lessons.”

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death in US children 1 to 4 years of age and the third leading cause of unintentional death among US children and adolescents 5 to 19 years of age.
