DAVENPORT, Fla. – A seemingly peaceful scene at a Polk County gas station erupted into chaos Monday morning, leading to the arrest of two men and a child endangerment investigation.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies responded to a gas station on Lake Wilson Road. They found a black Honda Accord parked at a fuel pump with two men asleep inside: 26-year-old Angel Acosta Calduch in the driver’s seat and 26-year-old Elliot Lugo Trinidad in the passenger seat. A 4-year-old girl, a relative of one of the men, was asleep in the back seat.

When a deputy woke the men to check on their well-being, the situation quickly escalated. Calduch attempted to start the car, and Trinidad tried to flee. Both men began physically resisting the deputies, pushing, hitting, and even biting them.

A K9 deputy on the scene released his K9 partner, Zorak, to assist. In the ensuing struggle, Calduch bit Zorak’s ear. Fortunately, Zorak was not injured.

Meanwhile, Trinidad grabbed the 4-year-old girl and ran into busy traffic. Deputies pursued him, apprehended him, and secured the child, who was unharmed. The Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) was contacted to investigate the child’s well-being.
