Fresh off successfully helping prosecute actor Jussie Smollett for a phony hate crime, the Chicago Police Department is investigating one of its own for applauding the formation of a conservative group in a public school.
Sgt. Ammie Kessem, a 20-year veteran of the Chicago PD, publicly supported the formation of a Turning Point USA chapter at William Howard Taft High School, which her daughter attends. Kessem’s daughter was reportedly involved in the effort.
In a social media post Kessem wrote, “Some brave students will be creating this Chapter of Turning Point USA tomorrow at Taft High School which is located on the Northwest side of chicago [sic] in the 41st Ward.”
“I could not be more proud of them. In a city where Liberal Progressives have continually and unjustifiably attacked the characters of conservatives, including myself and my children, by calling us ‘Nazis’, ‘White Supremists’ [sic] and outright ‘racists’, I am certain these students realize that this will almost certainly be scrutinized by the administration at this school which seems to embrace the Marxist views of a substantial amount of the Chicago Teacher’s union members.”
Kessem added, “Please help support them and their cause by posting some encouraging messages on this page. I will be sure to pass it along to them. We must not give up on our youth. Please and thank you.”
And in proving Kessem’s assessment correct, the school’s administration rejected the TPUSA club, calling it a racist group, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Taft Principal Mark Grishaber wrote a letter to the school community claiming he was “disturbed” by the initiative. Grishaber was apparently disturbed by TPUSA’s belief that Critical Race Theory and assertions of white privilege are little more than anti-white racism.
Grishaber, the Sun-Times noted, wrote in his letter that TPUSA “doesn’t support diversity and inclusion and contradicts the school’s mission statement to ‘educate global citizens to create a better world.’”
“Please know that staff and administration at Taft will never tolerate the formation of any group that does not support these values,” the principal added. “Our diversity is our strength, and we are proud to celebrate it in our classrooms and school organizations.”
Obviously, by rejecting the request of Kessem’s daughter and other students, Grishaber doesn’t believe in diversity, nor does he celebrate it.
Nonetheless, the mom is now under the microscope.
Fox News reported that Kessem, who denied being involved in the effort to form the chapter at Taft High School, is being investigated by the Chicago PD.
She told Fox that she made the Facebook post on her own time, and not in an official capacity. She also said she was not told she was being investigated.
“Well, when you live in a city that’s run by leftist radicals,” she told Fox, “I would say this is what you get. They try to cancel you if you have any kind of opinion that differs from theirs.”
