Ronald Exantus, 42, was extradited to Kentucky after his arrest in Florida for a parole violation. Attorney General James Uthmeier confirmed the extradition, which resulted from Exantus failing to register as a convicted felon with the local sheriff’s office following his relocation from Kentucky to Florida.

“Today, this child murderer is on his way back to Kentucky—where he belongs,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier. “I want to thank Statewide Prosecutor McVay, State Attorney Gladson, Sheriff Woods, and Department of Corrections Secretary Dixon for their vigilance and decisive action. I encourage all violent criminals to stay far away from Florida.”

The MCSO Intel Unit initiated an investigation after receiving information that Exantus, who had recently moved from Kentucky, was possibly residing in Marion County and had not complied with felon registration requirements.

The investigation found his residence was at 14790 SW 43rd Terrace in Marion Oaks. Exantus was located and arrested by deputies, confirming that he had failed to register as a convicted felon with the MCSO within the mandatory 48 hours of establishing residence, a condition of his parole.

His residence was noted to be adjacent to Sunrise Elementary School and in proximity to Horizon Academy.

Exantus was convicted in Kentucky in connection with the 2015 fatal stabbing of 6-year-old Logan Tipton.

A Kentucky jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity on the murder charge but convicted him of two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fourth-degree assault, resulting in a 20-year prison sentence. Exantus was placed on parole and released from custody after serving less than half of his sentence.

Following his arrest for the parole violation, he was booked into the Marion County Jail and held without bond. In a coordinated effort by the involved agencies, Exantus was successfully extradited back to Kentucky, where he will face proceedings for violating the terms of his early release.

“In this case, cooperation between the agencies was critical,” said State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Circuit Bill Gladson. “The professionals at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office of Statewide Prosecution worked together seamlessly to ensure that this offender was captured and returned to Kentucky.”
