SPRING HILL, Fla. – A quick response from Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR) prevented a more serious incident after a child playing with a lighter ignited a mattress fire in a Spring Hill home early Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.

HCFR crews were dispatched at midnight to a residential fire on the 3000 block of Greynolds Avenue. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a mattress ablaze in a child’s bedroom. Firefighters swiftly extinguished the flames, containing the damage to the bedroom.
