Citrus County Commuters Brace Dor Week Of Lane Closures On US 19, US 41, And SR 44

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Citrus County should prepare for significant travel delays and detours as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 initiates a series of nightly and daily lane closures for infrastructure work, effective Sunday, October 26, through Friday, November 1, 2025.

The closures affect three major arteries in the county: US 19, US 41, and State Road 44. Commuters are advised to plan extra travel time, especially during peak hours.

Key Closures to Note:

US 19 (from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail):

  • Nighttime Impact: Periodic lane closures will be in effect from Sunday, October 26, through Thursday, October 30, nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Daytime Impact: Periodic lane closures will also occur Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

US 41 (from E. Grace Street to E. Hill Street):

  • Nighttime Only: Lane closures are scheduled from Sunday, October 26, through Thursday, October 30, nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

SR 44 (from US 41 to the Sumter County line, including the bridge over the Withlacoochee River):

  • Nighttime Impact: A single night lane closure is slated for Sunday, October 26, through Thursday, October 30, nights from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • Daytime Impact: Day lane closures will run from Monday, October 27, through Friday, October 31, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

FDOT has not released the specific nature of the construction, but these closures are typical for resurfacing, utility work, or bridge maintenance projects. Drivers are reminded to follow posted signage, obey reduced speed limits, and be aware of construction personnel and equipment in the work zones.
