CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A 28-year-old Florida man thought he could outrun deputies and a K9 deputy, but things didn’t go as planned.

On Thursday, Jewel led deputies on a pursuit in the Withlapopka area which was eventually canceled due to public safety concerns.

Deputies say the suspect vehicle was located just a short time later on the side of the road near East Pintail Drive. The suspect bailed on foot in hopes of eluding law enforcement.

Patrol deputies quickly set up a perimeter in the area. Both Deputy Danner and his K9 partner Riggs along with Deputy Hall, initiated a search in the surrounding area.

K9 Riggs was able to track and locate the Jewel, and there were no reported injuries during this apprehension.

“Kudos again to our exceptional CCSO Patrol Deputies for their quick actions, keen eyes, and dedication in keeping Citrus County safe,” said CCSO.
