Citrus County Drivers Face Night And Day Lane Closures On Major Routes Nov 23-29

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Citrus County should prepare for potential delays and plan alternate routes as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has scheduled a series of periodic night and day lane closures on major roadways for the week of November 23-29, 2025.

Maintenance and construction activities will affect segments of US 19, US 41, and State Road (SR) 44, primarily before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Affected Routes and Schedule Summary

The most significant closures will take place between Sunday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 25. Drivers are advised to be aware of the following specific work zones:

  • US 19 (from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail):
    • Night Closures: Periodic lane closures are scheduled for the nights of Sunday, November 23, and Monday, November 24, running from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
    • Day Closures: Periodic daytime lane closures will be in effect on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • US 41 (from E. Grace Street to E. Hill Street):
    • Night Closures: Lane closures are planned nightly from Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • SR 44 (from US 41 to the Sumter County line – bridge over the Withlacoochee River):
    • Night Closures: Night lane closures are scheduled from Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25, between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m.
    • Day Closures: Daytime lane closures will also be implemented on Monday, November 24, and Tuesday, November 25, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

FDOT reminds all drivers to exercise caution in work zones, reduce speed, and be mindful of construction personnel and equipment. The scheduled work is weather-dependent and subject to change.

With the closures impacting US 19 and SR 44 and US 41, which are key connectors, commuters and those traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday should anticipate potential congestion. Motorists are encouraged to check traffic applications before departing and allow for extra travel time.
