CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A quick stop at a convenience store turned into a life-changing event for a Homosassa resident. Antonio Gaspar, 65, is now a millionaire after claiming a top prize from the Florida Lottery. Officials announced today that Gaspar won $2 million playing the “Scorching Hot 7s” scratch-off game.

Gaspar purchased the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 765 South Broad Street in Brooksville. After realizing he had won, he headed to the Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee on October 8 to claim the money.

When given the choice between annual payments or a one-time check, Gaspar chose the lump-sum option. He took home a total of $1,172,000.

The game Gaspar played costs $10 per ticket and offers four top prizes of $2 million. It is known for having plenty of winners, with over 118 million cash prizes available and overall odds of winning set at 1-in-3.39.

Scratch-off games continue to be a favorite for players in the state, making up about 74 percent of ticket sales for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

Beyond the cash prizes for winners, these games also support students. Since the games began, they have raised over $20 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund and created 2,350 millionaires.
