Superintendent Dr. Scott Hebert emphasized the guiding principles behind these initiatives, stating, “These strategic priorities will guide our focus and allow an efficient use of resources as we work to ensure every student is safe, supported, and prepared. We are excited to move forward with purpose and clarity.”

The strategic plan is built upon five core areas: Safety, Academic Achievement, Career Planning, Customer Service & Communication, and Student Accountability & Engagement. Each area features specific, actionable highlights designed to enhance the student experience and prepare them for future success.

Key highlights of the 2025-2026 Strategic Priorities include:

Enhanced Safety Measures: The district plans for improved coordination for after-school safety, ensuring consistent Safe School Officer coverage. Robust Career Planning: The district is expanding career planning tools such as Xello at the secondary level. A new initiative, “Toolbox for Tomorrow’s Leaders,” will be introduced for middle school students, providing early exposure to career exploration. Additionally, a strategic growth plan for Career & Technical Education (CTE) and academy programs is in development, aiming to align education with workforce needs.

Improved Customer Service & Communication: To foster a more responsive and connected environment, the district will launch “Citrus 6,” a new district-wide standard for customer service. Communication channels will also be significantly enhanced through platforms like ParentSquare, regular staff email updates, and a new weekly video message from district leaders, ensuring transparency and accessibility of information.

Greater Student Accountability & Engagement: The strategic priorities call for consistent enforcement of the Code of Conduct and discipline matrixes, fostering a structured and respectful learning environment where students understand expectations and consequences.

The unveiling of these priorities marks a significant step forward for the Citrus County School District, reflecting a commitment to continuous improvement and a proactive approach to addressing the evolving needs of students, staff, and the community. The district looks forward to implementing these initiatives, with a clear focus on empowering every student to thrive.
