CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – A failed attempt to crack an ATM and a scorched getaway vehicle led to the arrest of two 18-year-olds on Friday morning, just as crews were setting up for the Floral City Strawberry Festival. Citrus County Sheriff’s Office detectives took Joshua Yuranko and Anthony Robinson into custody less than five hours after the initial report of a burglary at Floral Park.

The investigation began early Friday when deputies met with an event coordinator who discovered a heavily damaged ATM near the park’s playground.

The machine had been tipped over and pried open overnight. While the suspects managed to tear through the protective metal housing and sever the keypad, the internal safe remained intact, preventing them from accessing any cash.

Crime Scene Specialists Gerneth and Bravo processed the scene, recovering a discarded beer can and a bent butter knife as evidence.

As the investigation unfolded, detectives learned that a UTV had been stolen from a nearby home during the same window of time. Detective Slingerland eventually located the stolen vehicle in a wooded area, where it had been intentionally set on fire and burned to the ground.

Scattered around the charred remains were several beer cans of the same brand found at the ATM scene, providing a physical link between the park vandalism and the vehicle theft.

Following a series of interviews with witnesses and the suspects, detectives Slingerland, Watts, and Adolf, along with Sergeant Dowling and Deputy McIntyre, established probable cause for the arrests.

Both Yuranko and Robinson face a long list of charges, including arson, burglary of an occupied dwelling, attempted grand theft of $10,000 to $20,000, grand theft of $5,000 to $10,000, tampering with evidence, and criminal mischief.
