CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers in Citrus County should prepare for significant traffic impacts next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced a series of lane closures across major roadways from Saturday, June 22, through Friday, June 28, 2025.
These closures are part of ongoing construction and repaving projects aimed at improving infrastructure and capacity in the region.
US 19: Day and Night Closures Expected
Travelers on US 19 from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail will encounter periodic lane closures throughout the week. Daytime closures are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 23, through Saturday, June 28.
For those traveling after hours, periodic night lane closures will be in effect from 6:30 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday, June 22, through Thursday, June 27. This segment of US 19 is currently undergoing a widening project, expanding it from four to six lanes, with an estimated completion in Summer 2025. Motorists should remain alert for workers and equipment.

US 41: Southbound Traffic Shift
A more concentrated impact is expected on US 41 from E Grace Street to E Hill Street. Southbound lanes will experience closures and traffic shifts starting 8 p.m. Sunday, June 22, and continuing until 7 a.m. Monday, June 23.
This area is part of a US 41 widening project from SR 44 to south of the Withlacoochee State Trail Bridge, which aims to convert the road from two to four lanes with added bike lanes and sidewalks, with an anticipated completion in Summer 2025.
SR 44: Around-the-Clock Closures Near Sumter County Line
The most extensive impact will be on SR 44 from US 41 to the Sumter County line (specifically the bridge over the Withlacoochee River). This section will experience around-the-clock lane closures from 7 a.m. Monday, June 23, through 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 27. This closure is related to a major repaving project on SR 44 and US 41, which also includes sidewalk construction, guardrail repairs, and signage replacement. The overall project in this corridor has an estimated completion of Spring 2026.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly, allow for extra travel time, and exercise caution when driving through these construction zones. Signs will be in place to guide traffic, and drivers are reminded to reduce speed and be aware of construction workers and equipment.
