Traffic in Citrus County to be Impacted by Major Roadwork and Lane Closures on US 19 and SR 44.
CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has issued its weekly lane closure summary for Citrus County, affecting several key roadways from Sunday, August 24, through Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Motorists are advised to plan for potential delays and use caution while traveling through the affected areas.

The following is a breakdown of the scheduled closures:
US 19 from S. Jump Court to W. Fort Island Trail:
- Nightly Closures: Periodic night lane closures will be in effect from Sunday, August 24, through Thursday, August 28, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Daytime Closures: Periodic day lane closures are also scheduled from Monday, August 25, through Thursday, August 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SR 44 from US 41 to the Sumter County Line (bridge over the Withlacoochee River):
- Overnight Closure: A single lane closure is planned for the overnight hours of Sunday, August 24, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Monday, August 25.
- Around-the-Clock Closures: Following the overnight work, around-the-clock lane closures will be implemented on this same section of SR 44, beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, August 25, and continuing through 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 28.
Drivers are encouraged to check for real-time traffic updates and be aware of crews and heavy equipment in the work zones. The closures are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen conditions.
