CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – The Florida Department of Transportation has released a new schedule for road work that includes lane closures on two major roads. These changes affect traffic starting Sunday, February 1, and run through the first week of the month.

If your nightly commute takes you down State Road 44, also known as Main Street, you will likely see construction crews between Pleasant Grove Road and Montgomery Avenue. The state is planning overnight lane closures in this area.

This work begins on Sunday night and continues through Thursday night, February 5. The closures are set to start at 9:30 p.m. and should be cleared up by 6 a.m. the following morning.

There is also quite a bit of activity planned for US 19. This work covers the stretch of road from South Jump Court to West Fort Island Trail. Unlike the work on Main Street, this project includes closures during both the day and the night.

For night drivers on US 19, periodic lane closures will happen from Sunday, February 1, through Thursday, February 5. These shifts run from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. If you drive this route during the daytime, you should look out for closures beginning Monday morning, February 2.

The daytime work is scheduled to last through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. As always, drivers should slow down and stay alert when passing through these construction zones.
