CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Drivers traveling through Citrus County on US 19 should prepare for potential delays starting Sunday, as state transportation officials announce a week-long schedule of lane closures.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 released its latest roadwork advisory, flagging a key stretch of US 19—from South Jump Court to West Fort Island Trail—for maintenance operations.

Crews will be active in the area beginning the night of January 4, with work continuing through Friday, January 9.

Motorists can expect two separate closure windows aimed at accommodating the work while managing traffic flow:

  • Overnight Operations: Periodic lane closures will begin Sunday, January 4, and run nightly through Thursday, January 8. These nighttime restrictions will be in effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Daytime Operations: Crews will also be on site during daylight hours. Periodic lane closures are scheduled from Monday, January 5, through Friday, January 9, operating between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Officials advise commuters to plan additional travel time or seek alternate routes during these windows to avoid congestion. Drivers are also urged to exercise caution when passing through active work zones for the safety of both roadway workers and other travelers.
