CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters and residents in Citrus County should prepare for minor overnight delays along a stretch of State Road 44, also known as Main Street, beginning this weekend.
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has issued a lane closure summary for the week of March 22 through March 28, 2026, highlighting specific construction activity in the heart of Inverness.
According to the official schedule, motorists can expect night lane closures on SR 44 between Pleasant Grove Road and Montgomery Avenue.
These closures are slated to begin on the night of Sunday, March 22, and will continue through the night of Thursday, March 26. To minimize the impact on heavy daytime traffic, the work is scheduled to take place between 9:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night.

Drivers traveling through the area during these hours are advised to stay alert, slow down, and watch for workers and equipment near the roadway.
The project is part of FDOT’s ongoing maintenance and improvement efforts within District 7. While the closures are restricted to the late-evening and early-morning hours, officials recommend that those with time-sensitive commutes allow for a few extra minutes of travel time or consider alternate routes.
