CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Commuters and residents in Citrus County should prepare for a series of upcoming traffic shifts as roadwork projects are scheduled to trigger both day and night lane closures starting Sunday.

Local officials have released a timeline for the work, which impacts two of the area’s busiest stretches of pavement.

The first set of delays will begin on State Road 44, also known as Main Street. Drivers traveling between Pleasant Grove Road and Montgomery Avenue can expect night lane closures starting the evening of Sunday, March 1. These closures are slated to run through the night of Thursday, March 5, with work hours set from 9:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. each morning.

A more complex schedule is planned for US 19 between S. Jump Court and W. Fort Island Trail. This section will see a dual rotation of periodic closures affecting both daytime and nighttime travelers. The night work on US 19 is scheduled for Monday, March 2, through Thursday, March 5, occurring between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Additionally, daytime drivers will encounter periodic lane closures in the same area starting Monday, March 2, and continuing through Friday, March 6. These daytime shifts will take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Motorists are encouraged to allow for extra travel time or seek alternate routes while these projects are underway. While the closures are periodic, the presence of crews and equipment near the roadway may lead to slower traffic flow during the designated windows.
