CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. – Citrus County commuters should prepare for potential delays next week as the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 7 has announced a series of periodic lane closures for maintenance and construction on US 19, US 41, and State Road 44.
The closures are scheduled to take place from Sunday, October 19, through Friday, October 24.
Motorists traveling on US 19 between S. Jump Court and W. Fort Island Trail will encounter both night and day lane closures. Night closures are slated for Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Day closures on this section will occur from Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 24, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Meanwhile, a segment of US 41 will see night work from E. Grace Street to E. Hill Street. Lane closures are scheduled nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., running from Sunday, October 19, through Thursday, October 23.
Extensive work is also planned for State Road 44 from US 41 to the Sumter County line, including the bridge over the Withlacoochee River. This route will have night lane closures Sunday through Thursday nights, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Day closures will follow from Monday, October 20, through Friday, October 24, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
FDOT advises drivers to allow extra travel time, remain aware of construction personnel and equipment, and exercise caution in these work zones. All construction schedules are subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
