HERNANDO COUNTY, FL. – A 55-year-old Floral City woman was killed in a crash that happened around 6:30 pm in Hernando County.
Troopers say the woman was driving a motorcycle northbound on US-41, north of Deer Run Road.
Investigators say the motorcycle entered the southbound lane to pass other traffic and by doing so entered the path of a dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck, a 54-year-old Brooksville man, attempted to avoid a collision by traveling partially onto the grass shoulder, but was unsuccessful and collided with the motorcycle.
According to FHP, the rider was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to a local hospital, but later died from injuries suffered in the crash.
