City of Clearwater Photo Contest Launches Community-Driven Comprehensive Planning Project

CLEARWATER, Fla. – The city of Clearwater’s Planning and Development Department is holding a photo contest where contestants can win a $100 gift card to a local business as one of many upcoming opportunities to participate in the city’s Comprehensive Plan update project, “Clearwater 2045”, that is just kicking off.

Between May 24, 2021 and June 20, 2021 the city will be holding weekly photo contests, asking participants to show what they think is “Uniquely Clearwater”

by submitting photographs of places or things they think represent the beauty and charm of the city or their neighborhoods. The individual who submits a photo with the most “likes” each week to the project website, www.clearwater2045.com, will receive a $100 gift card to a local business.

Also in May and June, the public is invited to join in small group “Community Conversations” which will be held virtually on ZOOM. The city wants to hear what is important to the community today and thoughts on what is desired for the future.

A comprehensive plan is a policy document that local governments adopt to guide decisions on the future growth and sustainability of the city. The city will be updating its vision and goals for 2045 as well as outlining the steps needed to achieve them.

There will be many opportunities over the next 18 months to attend in-person and virtual meetings and public hearings, as well as participate in surveys, polls, contests and provide commentary on draft documents.

To participate in the photo contest, sign up to attend a “Community Conversations” session, learn additional information about the project and other ways to get involved, visit: www.clearwater2045.com.
