Simons Road Project

City of Zephyrhills Enters Design Phase of Simons Road

ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. – The City of Zephyrhills has been coordinating with Duke Energy for two years in an effort to finish the roadwork linking Eiland Blvd to Fort King Road. City officials will now move forward with the roadwork.

Phase I was completed in February 2020, paving Simons Road from Eiland Blvd. to the Northern boundary of The Links of Silver Oaks. Phase II will continue from the Links of Silver Oaks subdivision to Fort King Road, making a continuous link between Eiland Blvd. & Fort King Road.

This will create a continuous North-South Connector linking Eiland Blvd. to Fort King Road.

Upon completion, residents that live on the north end of town will have another option to get onto Eiland Blvd.

This project is expected to help eliminate congested traffic.

Design completion is anticipated during fiscal year 20-21, and construction in fiscal year 21-22. When construction begins, residents should expect temporary closures and maintenance of traffic as necessary.

Zephyrhills City Manager Billy Poe of the project, “Completing the paving of Simons Road has been the plan for the last couple of years. When it was initially proposed, there was a major additional cost of moving Duke Energy transmission poles in order to complete the roadwork. We waited until Duke moved the poles on their own, which significantly reduces the cost of the roadway.”
