“Clean It Up, I’ve Had It” Florida Sheriff Sets Up Shop At High Crime Hotel

A Florida hotel that has seen over 400 calls for police service in the last year, and 36 in January alone, has a new neighbor.

America’s Best Value Inn in Satellite Beach, Florida, has had 60 plus disturbance calls, 10 overdoses, 4 Narcan deployments, 13 animal complaints, 12 battery cases, 46 injured or ill calls, 35 suspicious person or vehicle calls, 6 fugitives, and 30 trespassing calls.

That’s just to name a few, according to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey. And he’s had it.

“Think about that for a minute over 400 times our deputies, our agents, our animal enforcement officers, our team members had to respond to this hotel for various complaints that have taken them away from being able to protect the remainder of this community,” said Sheriff Ivey.

“I’ve personally previously met with the registered agent vice president, an effort to address this issue and caution him to stop allowing the legal activity at this hotel, or our team would stop it for him,” Ivey said.

The sheriff has stationed a mobile command post near the hotel and will monitor crime traffic coming in and out of the hotel.

“It’s going to stay at this location. It’s going to record all the criminal activity that takes place here and our agents are deputies, our investigators, we are going to put a stop to this. We have had it. So, if you’re coming to this location with the thought of commitment to crime, you may want to rethink it,” said Ivey.

“We shouldn’t have to respond to a hotel that’s doing business in our community over 400 times for criminal activity, so it stops,” Ivey added.

The sheriff warned that if you are coming to the hotel to commit crimes, you may want to “rethink that” and go somewhere else.

“To the owner, the vice president, the agent. It’s very simple. Clean it up. I’ve had it,” said Ivey.
