CLEARWATER, Fla. – A tragic accident Monday night at the intersection of Druid Road and Myrtle Avenue claimed the life of a Clearwater bicyclist. David Kluever, 40, was fatally struck by a pickup truck after reportedly running a red light.
Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to the vehicle-versus-bicycle crash at approximately 8:41 p.m. According to initial reports, Kluever was riding his bicycle eastbound on Druid Road when he proceeded through a red light and into the path of a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado.

Kluever was transported to Morton Plant Hospital but sadly died from his injuries a short time later.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Authorities haven’t released any further details at this time.
