CLEARWATER, Fla. – The City of Clearwater is holding a community meeting to gather public input on proposed renovations and improvements for Ed Wright Park. The meeting, which will be held in an open house format, is scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ross Norton Recreation Center, located at 1426 S. M.L.K. Jr. Ave.

The proposed plans for the park are designed to enhance recreational opportunities and include several new amenities.

Among the planned improvements are a refurbished tennis court, two new pickleball courts, and a kayak launch for Lake Belleview. The city also aims to add two picnic shelters, a new playground, a family bench swing, and a six-foot-wide sidewalk to connect the ball courts to the Lake Belleview Trail.

Funding for these upgrades is contingent on a competitive state grant. The city has applied for support through the Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, which helps local governments fund park and recreation projects. If the grant is awarded, it would provide the necessary funds to move forward with the renovations.

The community meeting offers a chance for residents to view project details, learn more about the design, and ask questions directly to city staff. This is an important opportunity for the public to have a say in the future of one of Clearwater’s local parks.
