Clearwater Crews Battle 2 Separate House Fires Hours Apart

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews had a grueling overnight shift, responding to two separate structural fires that left one person hospitalized and five others seeking temporary housing.

The first emergency call came in at 11:48 p.m. on Saturday, and firefighters rushed to Unit F9 at 19135 U.S. 19 N., where a kitchen fire had broken out.

According to officials, the blaze was sparked by unattended cooking. Paramedics transported one resident from the scene to a local hospital for medical treatment.

A few hours later, at 3:51 a.m. on Sunday, emergency tones rang out again. This time, crews were dispatched to 1439 Cleveland St. while most of the city was asleep. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this second incident. However, the fire caused enough damage to displace five residents.

The American Red Cross was called in to provide emergency assistance and housing support for those affected.

Investigators say the exact cause of that second fire remains under investigation.
