PINELLAS PARK, Fla. – A Clearwater man is behind bars after a personal dispute allegedly escalated into a fatal shooting at a Pinellas Park business early Friday morning.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, patrol deputies responded to a report of a gunshot heard at 6612 69th Avenue North at approximately 4:44 a.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026. Recognizing an urgent situation, deputies forced entry into the building. Inside, they discovered 50-year-old Craig Allan Beeth of St. Petersburg dead on the floor from a gunshot wound to the head.
Detectives from the Robbery & Homicide Unit took over the investigation and identified 44-year-old Robert Leon Worthington of Clearwater as the suspect. Investigators reported that Worthington and Beeth were together inside the business when an argument broke out between them. According to detectives, Worthington was visibly distraught over ongoing issues in his personal life before the confrontation turned physical.
During the dispute, Worthington allegedly pointed a handgun at Beeth and fired a single shot into his head, killing him. Law enforcement officials confirmed that Worthington fled the area before deputies reached the scene.
Following a search, deputies located Worthington on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Pinellas County Jail, where he faces a charge of Murder in the First Degree.
Authorities stated that Beeth’s next of kin have been notified of his death. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has noted that the investigation remains active.
