Clearwater Man Ejected In High-Speed Rollover On US-19

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A Tuesday evening commute turned into a chaotic scene in Pinellas County after a high-speed crash left a young driver fighting for his life. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 PM on April 14, 2026.

A 20-year-old man from Clearwater was behind the wheel of a GMC Yukon, heading southbound on US-19. State troopers report that the SUV was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver reached a stretch of road just south of Republic Drive.

At that point, the driver lost control of the heavy vehicle, causing it to flip and roll over multiple times.

The force of the rollover ejected the driver from the cabin. Emergency responders arrived on the scene to find the man with serious injuries.

He was immediately rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators with the Florida Highway Patrol spent the evening documenting the crash site to determine the exact factors that led to the loss of control.
