CLEARWATER, Fla. — A Friday night ride ended in tragedy for a Clearwater man after he lost control of his motorcycle on an interstate exit ramp.
The crash happened just before midnight. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 54-year-old man was riding a Yamaha VMX12 southbound on I-275. Around 11:40 p.m., he took the Milepost 30 exit to head toward CR-803.
Investigators say the rider couldn’t make the turn on the ramp. The motorcycle drifted off the road and slammed into a guardrail.

Emergency crews arrived and rushed the man to a nearby hospital. Despite efforts to save him, he died a short time later from his injuries.
Officials have not yet released the man’s name.
