CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater police officers are on the scene of a fatal traffic crash that occurred in the area of U.S. Highway 19 and Countryside Boulevard.
The incident involved a single vehicle and a pedestrian. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or the specific details surrounding how the collision occurred, as the investigation remains in its early stages.
Due to the severity of the accident and the ongoing police investigation, emergency crews have closed the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 19 at State Road 580.
The Clearwater Police Department announced that the roadway will remain closed “until further notice.”
Traffic is experiencing significant delays in the surrounding area. Law enforcement officials are actively encouraging motorists to avoid the intersection entirely and to seek alternate routes for their commute.
