Clearwater Police Officer Involved in Crash Responding To Car Fire

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police are on scene of a crash that involved a police vehicle at the intersection of Court Street and Missouri Avenue. A police vehicle was responding in emergency mode to a car fire in the 1100 block of Gould Street when the crash occurred at 5:30 p.m.

The police officer was taken to Morton Plant Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The two people inside the pickup that was struck were not injured.

The police officer was northbound on Missouri Avenue; the pickup was westbound on Court Street. The intersection will be shut down for several hours as the investigation is conducted.

Drivers should avoid the area and seek alternate routes. UPDATE: All Lanes have been reopened.
