Clearwater Police Seeking 32-Year-Old Man Who Hit And Killed Largo Skateboarder

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater Police officers are seeking the public’s help to locate Sergio Mendoza-Mesquite, 32, who was the driver of the van that fled the scene, after hitting and killing 26-year-old Tyler Deremo of Largo.

Just before 2 a.m., on Thursday, Police say a 2010 Toyota Sierra headed east on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard struck a man on a skateboard just east of Keene Road. The skateboarder, Tyler Deremo, who was also headed east in the lanes of traffic, was taken to Morton Plant Hospital, where he died.

The driver of the Toyota then fled the scene.

Witnesses said the driver never hit the brakes. The damaged vehicle was found shortly thereafter abandoned in the 2100 block of Cleveland Street.
