Clearwater Traffic Alert: Overnight Repairs To Gridlock Fort Harrison Intersection

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Clearwater drivers who frequent the downtown area should prepare for some late-night detours starting this weekend. The city of Clearwater has scheduled restoration work at the intersection of Fort Harrison Avenue and Pierce Street to repair the aftermath of a recent water main break.

A city-hired contractor is set to begin the project at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 3. To minimize the impact on daytime traffic, crews will work through the night until 5 a.m. the following morning.

This schedule will repeat Monday night, with the city expecting all repairs to wrap up by Tuesday morning, May 5.

While the work is underway, the northbound lane of Fort Harrison Avenue will be completely shut down between Pierce and Park streets. City officials confirmed that detours will be stationed to guide drivers around the construction zone.

Local authorities are urging motorists to stay alert while driving near the work crews, exercise caution, and factor in a few extra minutes for their commute until the road is fully reopened Tuesday.
