A 61-year-old Clermont resident is officially a multi-millionaire after cashing in a massive winning lottery ticket.
Primitivo Batista claimed the $21.5 million Florida Lotto jackpot from the February 4 drawing. He presented his winning ticket at the Lottery’s Orlando District Office just five days later on February 9.
Instead of taking the money in annual installments, Batista chose to receive his winnings as a single lump-sum payment. That decision leaves him walking away with exactly $11,750,158.50.
The lucky ticket was bought right in his hometown. Batista purchased it at the local BJ’s Wholesale Club, located at 2577 S. U.S. Highway 27 in Clermont.
The Florida Lotto has a long history in the state since its launch in 1988. Over the years, the game has handed out more than $11 billion in prize money and turned 1,108 people into millionaires. Additionally, ticket sales have brought in over $8.63 billion to support Florida’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
