Close Call On Ulmerton: Largo Fire Crews Halt Wooded Blaze Before It Reached Buildings

LARGO, Fla. – A quick response from Largo Fire Rescue saved local buildings from a brush fire that broke out in a wooded area Tuesday morning. Around 9:30 a.m., emergency units and several neighboring agencies rushed to the scene near 8321 Ulmerton Road after reports of smoke surfaced.

Firefighters moved fast to cut off the fire’s progress. Their efforts paid off, as they managed to box the flames in and keep them away from nearby structures.

Officials confirmed that no one was hurt during the incident and all surrounding property remained completely intact.

Once the fire was brought under control, Largo crews handed the scene over to the Florida Division of Forestry. While the immediate danger has passed, investigators are still working to figure out exactly what started the blaze in the woods.

People living or working nearby will likely see or smell some smoke lingering in the air while the area clears out. To stay comfortable and safe from the haze, authorities are asking residents to keep their windows and doors shut for the time being.
