The investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie has entered a critical new phase, with authorities in Pima County confirming the recovery of physical evidence and an expanded search for digital clues.

On Thursday, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department announced that investigators have secured several items of interest, including a pair of black gloves found near the victim’s home. These items have been sent to a laboratory for DNA analysis as detectives work to build a forensic profile of the person responsible for Guthrie’s apparent abduction.

Law enforcement officials characterized the discovery as part of a wider effort to follow every viable lead in the community.

Residents in the Catalina Foothills and surrounding areas have been told to expect a significantly higher police presence as hundreds of agents and detectives scour roadways and neighborhoods. Sheriff Chris Nanos indicated that the department is currently sifting through thousands of tips, noting that more detainments are likely.

While one individual was recently detained and released in Rio Rico, Arizona, the Sheriff emphasized that no one has been officially ruled out as a potential suspect at this time.

A major component of the current probe involves a massive request for residential surveillance footage. Investigators are asking neighbors to submit any video recorded between January 1 and February 2 that captures vehicle traffic, pedestrians, or any activity deemed unusual.

Specific focus has been placed on doorbell camera footage from the night of January 11 and the morning of January 31, the day Nancy Guthrie was last seen. This request comes as the FBI reviews footage showing an armed, masked individual appearing to tamper with Guthrie’s security camera while using foliage to obscure the lens.

Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on the morning of February 1 after she failed to arrive at a friend’s home for their regular Sunday tradition of watching a church service online. Family members, including her daughter Savannah Guthrie, the co-anchor of the “Today” show, have remained vocal in their plea for her safe return.

Savannah shared a sentimental home video of her mother on social media Thursday, thanking the public for their continued prayers and vowing that the family will never give up the search.

As the investigation moves forward, authorities continue to urge anyone with information or relevant video clips to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
